I was born on June 12, 1989, and since then have been in the habit of doing most things fast and early – talking, walking, and, hopefully, graduating. (I wish.) At present, I am a student at Barnard College of Columbia University where I am striving for excellence (read: slaving) in a very competitive environment. I intend to double major in Econometrics and Psychology and minor in writing (sigh, dreams of a fresh-woman — every thing seems possible). Since coming to America, I have developed the habit of sleeping right next to my computer and, remarkably, I haven’t rolled over it nor has it gone crashing down on the floor — a big achievement indeed. I love ice cream, except for mango and strawberry flavors; but I like fresh strawberries a lot. I enjoy going out with friends and have fun, but at the same time, I also love to curl up with a good book. I am a feminist but I am not pro abortion. I stand for freedom of speech and expression and I happen to talk a lot. No, seriously, a lot. I hate it when people don’t have the guts to stand up for what they believe in and I absolutely loathe hypocrisy.
This novel is a culmination of two years of hard work in making the very best excuses for delayed submissions, Ms. Pervez’s constant endeavor, thoughts of backing out, our frustrations over the rejection of a complete chapter, rewrites, and lots of fun talks during our meetings. Now that the book is finally in your hands, I hope you’ll like our work!
