I was born on May 13, 1989. The eldest among four sisters, life was chaotic. Fighting over every little thing was customary, driving my mother to extremes like threatening to send us all to different corners of the world to live with remote relatives, where we would miss each other and finally realize our follies. Then, when I was 12, my youngest sister was born, and I began changing diapers, feeding her, giving her baths; I finally felt a sense of responsibility. Unwinding together with chick flicks and cartoons, giving each other advice over outfits and makeup, dancing together, etc., largely replaced the bickering over the years. I have grown up on a diet of books. I have read in cars, trains, airplanes, bathrooms – at weddings, during class. I’ve stayed up all night on weekends and most of the night on weekdays to finish books. I have read a variety of authors and genres. And I have yet to decide which ones I love most. I have never been a good artist but am always tinkering around to make stuff: painting shoeboxes into storage boxes, picture frames from things salvaged from the garbage. I’ve just started my B.D.S. program at Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine.
Writing this book was altogether a unique and fun experience. The meetings were crazy, our ideas rarely made sense. In the end, it all came together like magic… It was rewarding.
